Vanessa Hanock

The Buckingham, Houston’s premier life care senior living community, is pleased to announce that Vanessa Hancock has been named resident care manager. Julie Fenske, executive director of The Buckingham, made the announcement. Hancock is now responsible for enhancing the development of the overall emotional and social needs of the residents, as well as making sure those needs are met on an individual basis.

“Vanessa possesses the skill set and knowledge we were looking for in this position,” said Fenske. “Vanessa worked at our sister community, Mirador in Corpus Christi, for the past five years, and has a proven track record of not only positively impacting the residents, but also encouraging changes that can potentially increase the quality and length of their lives.”

Hancock, who previously served as healthcare marketing and sales director at Mirador, worked closely with the families of potential residents looking to transition into a senior living community. Hancock demonstrated a high level of interpersonal sensitivity, allowing her to effectively establish relationships with residents and their families.

In Hancock’s new position as Resident Care Manager, she will coordinate and be responsible for helping residents in independent living access preventative health services to positively impact their overall health. She will also be a resource for residents and their families to ensure available medical services are accessed as needed and assist in helping them understand full continuum of care offered in the community. Hancock will collaborate with The Buckingham’s Masterpiece Living® Coordinator to ensure the residents are accessing the benefits of successful aging. The Masterpiece Living program philosophy embraces a wellness-minded attitude, and encourages learning throughout the aging process, focusing on an individual’s key development areas—physical, mental, social and spiritual.

“I love interacting and inspiring our residents to make healthy choices,” said Hancock. “In my new role, I have the opportunity to impact the lives of the residents by instilling in them the Masterpiece Living® philosophy. I love encouraging residents to try new activities to not only enhance their physical strength but also their cognitive skills. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch residents grow in ways they thought were impossible at their age. It’s equally rewarding to see their loved ones light up with joy when they learn about the progress their family member has made.”
