Houston Can Academy hosted a special commencement ceremony for 30 graduates from Houston North Can High School. Most graduates have their own story about the struggles they faced and the journey they took to earn their high school diploma. Students who were former dropouts or who were not succeeding in a traditional high school campus took a short walk across the stage culminating a long journey for most.
Some of the students were the first in their families to receive a high school diploma. Some did have families at their graduation and have pushed through high school on their own. Most walked across the stage to hold a diploma that seemed impossible to earn just a few years ago.
Celebrating 30 years of providing the highest quality education for all students, Texans Can Academies are graduating thinkers. Texans Can Academies are a unique network of 11 charter schools located in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The schools are tuition-free, open enrollment, public high schools of choice serving students who have struggled in a traditional high school setting. To date, more than 130,000 youth have been given a second chance at life with the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
