The Grand Postpones Events Scheduled for This Weekend

Events scheduled at The Grand 1894 Opera House for this weekend have been postponed and rescheduled due to concerns about high winds and potential flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey. The scheduling for both Dixie’s Tupperware Party and ArtWalk at The Grand has been affected by the storm.

Dixie’s Tupperware Party, originally scheduled forSaturday, August 26, 2017 at 8 pm, has now been rescheduled for Friday, November 10, 2017 at 8pm. Dixie’s performance at The Grand has been one of the most anticipated events of the summer.  We’ve all been waiting for the laughs as well as the chance to buy some Tupperware! Current ticket holders have several options regarding rescheduling of the performance, and are encouraged to contact The Grand’s ticketing staff at tickets@thegrand.com or 409.765.1894 for a review of ticketing options.  Ticket sales for the rescheduled date of November 10th are also currently available.

Dixie Longate is America's most famous Tupperware Lady. Dixie's unique style of southern comedy and personal empowerment has garnered her a dedicated and raucous fan base across the world.  Her interactive shows don't just entertain but they empower the audience to kick up their heels and take on the world! Please note: This show contains mature content.

ArtWalk at The Grand, also originally scheduled for Saturday, August 26th, has now been rescheduled for Saturday September 9, 2017 from 6-9 pm to coincide with the rescheduled Galveston Arts Center ArtWalk event.

ArtWalk at The Grand will feature an exhibit titled “Playing in the Mud – Original pottery and ceramics by Richard Eastman,” on Saturday, September 9th from 6-9 p.m. in Edna’s Room at The Grand. A “paint your own pottery” workshop for kids will also be included from 6-8 p.m.  Kids (of all ages!) can paint a plate which will then be fired and featured at Saltwater Grill restaurant as part of their dessert plate program.  Customers can purchase the hand-painted dessert plates, with proceeds going to support children’s programs at The Grand 1894 Opera House.

For ticket prices or additional information, call The Grand’s box office at 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or visit The Grand’s web site at www.thegrand.com. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Grand 1894 Opera House is located at 2020 Postoffice Street in Galveston’s historic downtown Cultural Arts District and is recognized as “The Official Opera House of the State of Texas.” All major credit cards accepted.
