Nacogdoches native Allison Lowde is the newest recruiter to join the Texas State Technical College family in Fort Bend County.

She comes to TSTC as a graduate from Texas A&M University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 2015. Since then she had been working as a receptionist at a local veterinarian clinic, until she saw a newspaper article that opened a door of opportunity.

The article touting TSTC growth in the region and employment opportunities directed readers online to check out advertised positions. Seeing the recruitment position encouraged her to apply.

“I saw the recruitment position and knew I could do that and enjoy it,” said Lowde. “I thought about the job a lot, I really felt it was a long shot.”

Much to her surprise, Lowde was interviewed and hired soon after as one of TSTC’s Student Recruitment Representative.

“I was so surprised and happy when I received the job the offer,” said Lowde. “Everything is going way better than I ever expected. The people I work with are great and I love presenting to so many different students.”

Lowde said she does anywhere from five to 18 presentations a day for local high school students and counselors. She said she is looking forward to the day many of these students she is talking to will become the first graduating class from the new Fort Bend County TSTC campus.

“It’s exciting to think that these students could be my first graduating class from the new campus,” said Lowde. “I want to see TSTC grow and be a dominant force in Fort Bend County.”

The recruiter said what she loves most about TSTC is the training that students receive. TSTC uses a hands-on approach that produces skilled workers prepared to become employees in their industry she added.

“TSTC has big goals for its students and I’m glad to be a part of that,” said Lowde. “I wasn’t presented options like this when I was getting ready for college and I want to be able to help these students explore everything we have to offer.”

When Lowde is not leading presentations in the community she can be found spending time with her husband, her dog and cat, and cooking up new recipes in the kitchen.
