Oct. 13, 2015 -  This month, Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning & Electrical donated $500 to The Rose, one of the state’s leading breast cancer care organizations, which provides treatment for patients in Houston and the surrounding areas.

“We are delighted and honored to support The Rose in Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Abacus CEO Alan O’Neill. “We researched which organization to support for our ‘Count On Us To Care’ program. The Rose stood out because of their outstanding work supporting less fortunate Houstonians affected by this dreadful condition and helping with preventative care.”

In addition to financial aid, Abacus is striving to promote awareness, reminding women to get yearly mammograms by providing pink ribbon pins and pink disposable shoe covers for their technicians to wear on the job. The company will also share educational facts and messages through various social media channels, further informing customers of the important work The Rose is doing and helping community members become increasingly aware of the risks breast cancer poses.

Dorothy Gibbons, co-founder and chief executive officer of The Rose, spoke on the organization’s partnership with Abacus, stating “The Rose is able to serve the women of our community, both insured and uninsured, because of the generosity of companies such as Abacus Plumbing.  Their leadership and caring allows us to reach women who desperately need a mammogram, ultrasound or biopsy—for some of those women, it will mean finding cancer at its earliest, most treatable stage.  Abacus Plumbing is truly helping us save lives.  We so appreciate their support.”

The Rose is the leader in breast health care, providing access to care throughout Southeast Texas. Established in 1986, the Houston based nonprofit organization offer screening and diagnostic services to all women, regardless of their ability to pay.   Patient Navigators help guide all women who are diagnosed into treatment and The Rose offers six breast cancer support groups to serve the diverse needs and different age levels of survivors.  Through two comprehensive diagnostic Centers and a fleet of Mobile Mammography Vans that serve rural Texas, The Rose cares for over 40,000 women annually.  Board Certified physicians are on site and offer same day results for diagnostic procedures.  Advanced digital technology, a full range of diagnostic services, experienced staff and individual patient counseling ensure a continuum of care for all women.
